No spouse : Never married or Absent spouse or divorced or widowed
by 40 yrs - 37% without spouse : ~15% never married, ~15% divorce never remarried, ~2% seperated , ~2% absent spouse, ~1% widowed. and the general pattern holds upto 75yrs, with drastic jump in widowed to 13% by 75yrs.
